Chronicled heavily by the Venerable Bede, Boisil is most famous for being the spiritual mentor and teacher of Saint Cuthbert, whom he famously welcomed at the abbey gates in 651 after intuitively recognizing the young man's future holiness.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDuring his final years, Boisil successfully predicted a devastating regional plague, accurately foretelling that Cuthbert would survive the pestilence while he himself would succumb to it.
