About St. Clement of Ohrid

Saint Clement of Ohrid, Equal-to-the-Apostles, was a holy hierarch, scholar, and faithful disciple of Saints Cyril and Methodius who co-labored to bring the light of Christ to the Slavic peoples.

Following the repose of his teachers and facing severe persecution in Moravia, Saint Clement was guided by the Holy Spirit to the First Bulgarian Empire, where he founded the Ohrid Literary School as a major spiritual and missionary center.

Consecrated as the first bishop of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church to preach in the Slavonic tongue, he tirelessly translated liturgical texts, penned soul-profiting sermons, and educated thousands of disciples, strengthening the foundations of Orthodox Christianity in the Balkans until his blessed repose in 916.
